Who can Apply
Open to any reputable R&D establishment or other organisation worldwide intending to fund a project team or PhD candidate to undertake relevant research.
Details
The ITOPF R&D Award provides financial support for projects which have the potential to lead to improvements in spill related matters. This includes (but is not limited to) preparedness, monitoring, response, environmental effects, and impact mitigation. This year, special consideration will be given to projects addressing Fisheries & mariculture; Emerging fuels (including nuclear); Environmental recovery; AI applications, Remote sensing, Autonomous vehicles. PhD projects are particularly welcome. Applications open on 1 September 2025.

• Starting Grants: for researchers 2–7 years post-PhD.
• Consolidator Grants: for researchers 7–12 years post-PhD.
• Synergy Grants: collaborative grants for 2–4 PIs addressing a complex challenge together.
• Proof of Concept: for current ERC grantees exploring commercial/social value of results.
Details
This highly competitive funding programme supports frontier research across all fields, for researchers at different career stages, with an emphasis on innovative, high-impact projects. Various deadlines according to the call.

Details
BIP Proof is a program that supports proof of concepts and has 10k€ for eleven projects. Projects to be supported will carry out technical feasibility prototypes, in-vitro/in-vivo tests, feasibility and market studies or other activities that add value to these results and increase their attractiveness.
