On 25 September, CIIMAR participated in the “Presentation Session of Products, Processes and Services being completed by the Blue Bioeconomy Pact Consortium”, an initiative aimed at disseminating the main results achieved within the scope of this important national strategic project.
The event, held at the Port of Leixões Cruise Terminal, was organised by INOVAMAR, the entity that leads the Blue Bioeconomy Pact consortium, which has been bringing together a wide range of national entities with the aim of developing innovative solutions for the sustainable exploitation of marine resources.
At this event, all the Products, Processes and Services (PPS) to be completed by the Consortium were presented, ensuring that the Blue Bioeconomy Pact is fulfilling its objective of boosting the development of a new cutting-edge industrial economic sector in Portugal, based on the application of marine bioresources in multiple industries.
CIIMAR was present in this consortium as an active partner, contributing to several of the vertical projects and capacity-building initiatives in the blue bioeconomy sector: Vertical Bivalves, Vertical Food, Vertical Feed, Vertical Algae and Vertical Fish, and also leads the Portuguese Blue Biobank (WP9), one of the cross-cutting Sector Capacity-Building Projects.
Through its participation, CIIMAR reinforces its commitment to promoting scientific knowledge and innovation in the service of a more sustainable and competitive blue economy.
The Blue Bioeconomy Pact is one of the mobilising agendas for Business Innovation in the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). It is a consortium made up of 83 national entities and is investing more than €130 million in the development of new products, processes and services.
