Who can apply
The programme supports scientific and technological research activities of researchers who have recently returned from a period of parental leave. It aims to promote the reintegration of researchers into active scientific careers and foster the continuity of their research work.
Details
Key details:
• Maximum funding per project: €50,000
• Project duration: up to 18 months
Eligibility:
• Researchers with a Doctoral degree from any scientific area who have taken a period of parental leave of at least:
o 120 consecutive days (in the case of individual parental leave), or
o 72 consecutive days (in the case of shared parental leave), during the period from 10 April 2024 until the date of application submission.

Teams from a minimum of three countries financially participating in the Call, with at least two of these from EU Member States or EU Associated Countries.
Details
The next Biodiversa+ call, titled “Restoration of ecosystem functioning, integrity and connectivity” (#BiodivConnect), will open on 9 September 2025. Portuguese teams can apply with funding from FCT. Detailed instructions regarding submission, eligibility, and evaluation criteria and other relevant information will be published with the official call announcement in September. Project proposals can address one or more of these 3 main topics: Topic 1: Setting restoration targets and measuring success/Topic 2: Transferability and scaling of nature restoration efforts/Topic 3: Resilience and sustainability of restoration efforts
