Exploring the Potential of Algae as Functional Ingredients in Aquaculture
One of the major challenges in aquaculture is making fish more resilient, especially during the early stages of life, when larvae and juveniles are most vulnerable to stress, transport, handling, and disease.
Nutrition can play an essential role in promoting fish health. In this context, algae emerge as promising natural ingredients, rich in bioactive compounds with the potential to strengthen the immune system and improve stress response.
This study aims to explore functional feeds for important aquaculture species, such as Senegalese sole, European sea bass, and sea bream, by incorporating algae into their diets.
This approach seeks to produce healthier and more resilient fish, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient aquaculture industry.
