The Ílhavo Maritime Museum is hosting the One Health Days: Science aboard the Santa Maria Manuela.
The event is inspired by the scientific expedition carried out in June 2024, which brought together researchers from different institutions to address some of the key challenges and opportunities associated with the ocean. The work conducted included areas such as cetacean monitoring and the exploration of the biotechnological potential of marine microorganisms for the discovery of new bioactive compounds, highlighting the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health.
The expedition was organized by the Montenegro Veterinary Referral Hospital and involved researchers from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS) and the CIIMAR.
The event aims to showcase the projects and results associated with the expedition, while also raising awareness of the importance of marine biodiversity and ocean sustainability within the One Health framework.
