September 1 to September 27
Monday to Friday, from 9h30 to 12h30 and from 14 to 17h
This exhibition aims to take the public on a cutting-edge journey through emerging areas of Marine Biotechnology, such as Synthetic Biology, Biocatalysis, Bioprocessing, and Bioinformatics.
What are these fields and what do they encompass?
Are they part of the future of Marine Biotechnology?
These and other questions will be addressed throughout the exhibition, where we explain how unexplored marine organisms may conceal compounds with unique chemistry, potentially filling gaps in society in areas as diverse as health, energy, and the environment.
The goal of this exhibition is to raise public literacy in emerging areas of biotechnology and highlight their role in developing sustainable solutions for societal challenges.
The exhibition, composed of 11 explanatory posters, was developed by the research team of the ERA Chair project BlueBio4Future – Blue Biotechnology and Bioengineering for the Current and Future Development of a Blue Bioeconomy in Portugal (GA 952374), funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.
