On October 15, CIIMAR welcomed the visit of the Portuguese Secretary of State for Science and Innovation, Helena Canhão.
The visit was accompanied by CIIMAR’s Board, who presented to the Secretary of State the three thematic lines that guide the Centre’s research.
The visit comprised a tour to the laboratories located at CIIMAR’s headquarters, where projects in areas such as blue biotechnology and bioprospecting, ecology and conservation, animal health, public policy, and international research collaboration were presented.
The visit also included a stop at the Bioterium of Aquatic Organisms (BOGA) and the premises where CIIMAR’s Blue Biobank will be established, an integral part of the Hub Azul Leixões – Pole I infrastructure currently being implemented in Matosinhos.
The programme concluded with the unveiling of the commemorative plaque marking CIIMAR’s 25th anniversary.
