Title : Atlantic salmon and European lobster hatchery research at University of Galway, Ireland

Dr Alex Wan will present the current landscape of Irish aquaculture, including barriers and opportunities. The presentation will focus on Irish Atlantic salmon farming and emerging lobster rearing as a tool for stock enhancement programmes.

Name : Alex Wan (University of Galway)

Dr Alex Wan is a Research Fellow at the University of Galway, Ireland. He is the team leader for the Aquaculture and nutrition research unit (ANRU) based at the Ryan Institute’s Carna Research Station. His research focus is on sustainable aquafeed ingredients, and their environmental impact and fundamental marine aquatic biology. His current research is on salmon aquaculture development and lobster aquaculture for stock enhancement.

The seminar will take place at CIIMAR headquarters (Boca da Baleia Auditorium ).
