Cátia Vilas Boas awarded the “Young Researchers Grant” from The Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water, and the “Best student poster competition” , in Barcelona on 10-11 October.
The 18th Annual Workshop On Emerging High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS) and LC-MS/MS Applications in Environmental Analysis and Food Safety" delivered the "Best Student poster competition".
The work* developed by Cátia demonstrates that a compound synthesized in the Group of Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry (CIIMAR-FFUP), does not negatively impact the lipidome of human retinal cells such as tralopyril, a toxic commercial biocide added to marine paints, which may constitute a less toxic alternative in the prevention of marine biofouling.
This study was carried out in the USA, Department of Chemistry, University at Buffalo, NY, under the Fulbright program.
Congratulations Cátia!
