Course description

This course introduces good practice in research data management (RDM), with an emphasis on drawing up a Data Management Plan (DMP). Participants will be introduced to the essential principles for sharing FAIR data, including organization, description and publication, ensuring compliance with data policies.

Instructor

João Aguiar Castro – INESC TEC

Data Steward in INESC TEC’s Management Support team and Visiting Assistant Professor at FEUP. He has been working in the context of Research Data Management (RDM) since 2013, focusing on the involvement of researchers, the development of metadata models and DMPs. He developed and teaches the course on Cross-cutting Skills in RDI at FEUP. He holds a Master’s degree in Information Science and a PhD in Digital Media from the University of Porto.

Maria Paola Tomasino – CIIMAR

Maria Paola Tomasino is the Data Steward at CIIMAR, where she leads the Open Science and Data Management Office. In this role, she supports researchers by providing guidance and training on Research Data Management and Open Science practices. With a scientific background in marine microbial diversity, she also serves as the Data Steward for CIIMAR’s Monitoring Platform, ensuring the interoperability and quality of marine data and metadata.
