6th edition of the Blue Think Conference: Share Science, Spread Knowledge

Another edition of the Blue Think Conference organised by the CIIMAR Doctoral Students Committee took place.

Yesterday saw another edition of the Blue Think Conference organised by the CIIMAR PhD Students Committee, which continues to be a space for bringing together the next generation of CIIMAR scientists.

Promoting knowledge sharing in an informal and dynamic environment, the Blue Think Conference provides a unique annual opportunity for students and early-career researchers to present their work and interact with colleagues from the scientific community.

The event featured prominent speakers, including Maria Teresa Dinis, a pioneer in aquaculture in Portugal, professor at the University of Algarve and researcher at CCMAR; Sílvia Lino, a specialist in marine biotechnology and member of the biotechnology company Sea4Us; and Ana Colaço, a biologist specialising in the deep sea and researcher at the Okeanos centre at the University of the Azores.

The conference also recognised the work of its participants by awarding prizes in the different thematic areas of CIIMAR.

In the area of Global Change and Ecosystem Services, Isabel Santos de Sousa received the award for best oral presentation, while Inês Amorim was awarded the prize for best poster.
In the field of Biology, Aquaculture and Seafood Quality, Inês Carvalho was awarded the prize for best oral presentation, and João N. Monteiro and Tito Teixeira received the prize for best poster.
In the field of Marine Biotechnology, Leonor Ferreira stood out with the best oral presentation, and Margarida Pereira received the prize for best poster.

The conference also featured two workshops focused on career development and confidence, led by Ana Freitas, professor at the Federal University of Pampa, and Ana Salgado, head of the Advanced Training and Career Management Office at CIIMAR.
