On February 13 the workshop on Microalgae and legislation for food and feed took place at CIIMAR and via ZOOM platform.
The event was organised in the framework of the Interreg Atlantic Area Enhance MicroAlgae project and was attended by Vitor Vasconcelos (CIIMAR), Filipa Melo de Vasconcelos (ASAE), Ana Paula Bico (DGAV) and Raquel Godinho (AlgiKey), who brought together the points of view of research, regulators and industry.
This workshop, which counted with 90 participants, addressed and debated an increasingly explored theme – the use of microalgae for human or animal food – and included topics such as legislation and requirements for use, safety of microalgae, permitted algae and development of products with microalgae.
