André M. Machado obtained a BSc in Biology in 2013 (Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon), an MSc in Biotechnology in 2016 (Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon), and a PhD in Biology in 2026 (Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto). During his doctoral studies, he specialized in the assembly of genomes and transcriptomes from a range of metazoan species, while investigating the repertoire of genes involved in organismal defense against chemical stressors. With more than eleven years of experience in bioinformatics, he has developed and maintained multiple pipelines for large-scale genomic data processing and analysis. He is the author of over 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications, involving approximately 200 co-authors. His research focuses on the application of genomic sequencing data, using computational biology approaches, to elucidate evolutionary dynamics and adaptive processes in diverse aquatic organisms.
