For the first time, The Ocean Race Europe, considered one of the most demanding international sailing races, will pass through northern Portugal, with a 2-hour stop scheduled for August 20 at the Porto Cruise Terminal. This stop is part of a major event taking place over August 19 and 20, in which CIIMAR will take part, contributing with a scientific component to the parallel activities planned to mark the arrival of the sailors in Matosinhos.
Beyond the sporting dimension and its impact on tourism, The Ocean Race Europe also has a strong connection to ocean science and sustainability, promoting various initiatives aimed at advocating for ocean rights, protection, and restoration.
