In the presentation, Camila Leporace — journalist, PhD in Education, and currently a postdoctoral researcher in science communication at the Institute of Computing of UNICAMP – University of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil — will share her journey as both a researcher and a science communicator. The talk will address the challenges of being a researcher in today’s world and the importance of communicating one’s own work to achieve professional goals. It will also explore the difficulties of conveying technology to broader audiences.
Camila Leporace is a journalist and researcher in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and cognition, with eight years of experience. She is the author of Algoritmosfera – Human Cognition and Artificial Intelligence (PUC-Rio and Hucitec, 2024). She completed her PhD through a dual-degree program between the University of Coimbra, in Portugal, and PUC-Rio, supported by a CAPES scholarship. Currently, she is a postdoctoral researcher at UNICAMP’s Institute of Computing, working in the area of science communication. She is a member of the AI in Basic Education Observatory at Columbia University in Brazil and of the Research Group on AI Agent Governance, linked to the Oscar Sala Chair at IEA-USP.
