José is a marine ecologist that focus his research on the structure and functioning of deep-sea ecosystems. He is also interested in species auto-ecology and resources management. José finished his PhD in 2024 with his research on the structure of benthopelagic food-webs in the Southern Ocean, evaluating how they will be impacted by climate change and fisheries. Previously, José also studied the reproductive biology of deep-sea polychaetes, and the habitat and trophic ecology of cephalopods and fish.
