On June 8, World Oceans Day, CIIMAR received a visit from the United Nations Peace Boat, which docked at the Port of Leixões Cruise Terminal.
Peace Boat is an international NGO based in Japan that promotes peace, human rights and sustainability, working in collaboration with the United Nations.
Founded in 1983, Peace Boat has special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations (UN).
Peace Boat carries out its main activities through a passenger ship that travels the world working in partnership with the UN SDG Action Campaign.
During its visit, Peace Boat accompanied the CIIMAR initiative in the monitoring and scientific demonstration event between the Port of Leixões and Freixo Marina to commemorate World Ocean Day.
