CIIMAR’s Neptune Seminar with André Sousa | 3rd Floor Auditorium

NGS – Bringing Innovation to Omics

Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) has revolutionized omics research by enabling rapid, high-throughput analysis of DNA, RNA, proteins, and metabolites. This technology allows for comprehensive profiling of genetic variations, gene expression, and molecular interactions, facilitating a deeper understanding of complex biological systems. As NGS continues to evolve, it holds the promise of transforming personalized medicine, disease diagnostics, and therapeutic development.

André Sousa (Bioportugal)

André holds a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics and a Master’s in Cellular and Molecular Biology, which laid the foundation for his career in the life sciences sector. Over the past few years, he had the opportunity to work extensively across Southern Europe, engaging with various stakeholders in the genomics and molecular diagnostics fields. His previous role as Sales Channel Manager for MGI in Southern Europe allowed him to collaborate closely with research institutions, clinical laboratories, and healthcare providers, understanding their unique needs and challenges. Currently, as the Business Development Manager for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) at Bioportugal, he aims to leverage his experience, focusing on expanding NGS applications and fostering partnerships that drive innovation in the region
