On 26 September, CIIMAR will join dozens of institutions in Porto to bring science, technology and the environment to the public during European Researchers’ Night.
In 2025, the annual European Researchers’ Night event will feature more than 15 regional institutions and associations, including CIIMAR, which will be among the partners of the event organised by i3S.
As a prominent institution in the programme, CIIMAR aims to bring marine and environmental sciences to the national scientific scene and bring the public closer to the ocean that so characterises our country.
CIIMAR’s Participation
CIIMAR participates heavily in the European Researchers’ Night programme with activities and demonstrations on topics such as non-invasive cetacean research, the impact of citizens on public policies for ocean conservation, marine biotechnology hidden in amoebas, bioremediation by microorganisms, the power of plants in combating pollution, ghost nets, edible insects, among many others.
Many teams and researchers have been preparing to develop the programme for the event, which takes place this Friday. Projects such as INSPIRE, NETtag+, MAR2PROJECT, among others, will be present from 6 pm at i3S to bring some of the science carried out at CIIMAR to the public event that brings together the scientific landscape in Portugal.
The programme of activities and demonstrations is available here. Participation is free, but some activities have limited places and require registration.
About European Researchers’ Night 2025
European Researchers’ Night is an annual event promoted by the European Commission as part of the Marie Curie Actions, with the aim of bringing the public closer to scientific research.
The 2025 event in Porto will feature around 50 experimental and recreational activities for audiences of all ages and will mobilise more than 150 researchers from Portuguese institutions dedicated to scientific research and innovation. It promises to be a night of direct interaction between the public and our scientists, with direct sharing, practical experiences and scientific demonstrations that reveal what goes on behind the scenes in science every day.
