CIIMAR at the new ETSA factory launch under the Blue Bioeconomy Pact

CIIMAR was present at the inauguration of the ETSA Group’s new factory, dedicated to the production of a new line of Prohy protein hydrolysates, developed in partnership with the research centre.

On 19 September, CIIMAR attended the inauguration of the ETSA Group’s new factory, dedicated to the production of the new Prohy line of protein hydrolysates, developed in partnership with the research centre. This unit represents an investment of 20 million euros, part of the Blue Bioeconomy Pact, and is an important step in strengthening sustainability and innovation in the aquaculture sector.

CIIMAR’s participation in this project focused on the characterisation and validation of hydrolysates on a pilot scale, within the scope of the FEED vertical project, specifically in the Pep4Fish project. The product developed was tested at CIIMAR’s facilities as a functional ingredient in feed for sea bass and sea bream, with promising results. The next step will be commercial-scale validation.

CIIMAR plays a key role in the valorisation and demonstration of new ingredients for aquaculture, contributing to more sustainable food solutions for the industry.

The project involves several partner entities: ETSA Group (Sebol and ITS), Soja de Portugal Group (Sorgal and Savinor), Agrogrintech, Seaculture, Portuguese Catholic University (UCP), B2E and CIIMAR itself.
