On September 22, 2024, science will leave CIIMAR’s laboratories and take over the corridors of the Porto Cruise Terminal building, transforming every space into a scene of curiosity and inspiration.

With a variety of scientific and recreational activities focused on the aquatic environment, CIIMAR researchers will have the opportunity to share their experiences, their enthusiasm and their knowledge about this environment that is so important to human beings with the general population.

On this day, participants will be able to closely follow the work carried out by CIIMAR researchers, take part in scientific experiments, collect stamps in our explorer’s passport, observe organisms under a microscope, explore coastal biodiversity aquariums and intertidal zones, and learn about our mini phyto-ETAR and our integrated multi-trophic aquaculture model. There will also be an “Ocean Trivia” moment to test the public’s knowledge of the marine environment, rewarding the true explorers and guardians of the ocean.
