Oceanus Seminar Series | 27 Mar | Andreia Filipa-Silva | 11h30

Title: Foodborne Viruses and Fish: a holistic approach to food safety

Fish and seafood are essential components of the global human diet. However, their susceptibility to microbiological contamination poses significant health risks for consumers. Viruses are among the primary causes of foodborne illnesses in fish and seafood. This seminar aims to offer insights into foodborne illnesses, with particular emphasis on viral infections. Effective control and prevention of viral diseases in fish production and commercialization necessitate adherence to sanitary regulations and thorough microbiological testing, crucial for promoting public health and guaranteeing safe food consumption.
