MSc Student

I am a Marine Biology Master’s student at the University of the Algarve (UAlg) in Faro, originally from a small coastal city in northern Germany near the Baltic Sea. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Biology at the University of Kiel, where my thesis focused on assessing the health of juvenile North Sea herring following several years of mass strandings in the Wadden Sea.
I have now joined CIIMAR to conduct my Master’s thesis within the Coastal Biodiversity and the Microbiome Ecology and Biogeochemistry Research Groups. As part of the EMPHATIC project, my research focuses on the respiratory microbiome of fin whales and sperm whales. My broader research interests include cetacean ecology, physiology, and behaviour.
