Tiago Ribeiro is a Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP) and a PhD researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIIMAR) in Portugal. He holds a Ph.D. in Science Education and Communication (Specialization in Science Education) from FCUP with the thesis “Approaching the Earth System from a Geoethical Perspective: From Citizen Science to Science Education” – funded by FCT (ref. SFRH/BD/143306/2019). He holds a master’s degree in Biology and Geology Education and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the same university. He is Secretary (2022–) of the International GeoScience Education Organisation (IGEO), Portuguese Junior Ambassador (2020–) of the Universal Scientific Education & Research Network (USERN), and Associate Member (2023–) of the IUGS Commission on Geoscience Education (IUGS COGE). Tiago conducts research at CIIMAR, where he is Co-PI of the Social and Educational Innovation (SEI) Group (2024–). His research interests focus on science education in formal, non-formal, and lifelong learning contexts to promote innovation and social impact in science education, addressing contemporary challenges and fostering inclusive and accessible learning environments for diverse audiences.
