The genetic mechanisms controlling longevity are poorly understood despite several studies on humans. Here, we aim to further disentangling the genetic bases of aging and life-history patterns across the animal kingdom, potentially leading to biomedical applications to mitigate the influences of environmental changes resulting from impacts of invasive species, environmental pollutants or climate change.
