CIIMAR once again stands out in global science, with 18 of its researchers included in the latest edition of the “World’s Top 2% Scientists list”, which annually identifies the most cited scientists in the world based on data from SCOPUS, the largest international scientific database.
Among the 205 researchers from the University of Porto distinguished this year, 18 belong to CIIMAR:
This distinction recognises not only the impact relative to the year 2024, but also the accumulated relevance throughout the scientific careers of these researchers, who have contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of marine biology, biotechnology, aquaculture, ecotoxicology, chemistry, environmental health, among others.
The World’s Top 2% Scientists list is compiled by Stanford University (USA) and annually evaluates approximately 230,000 researchers from around the world based on metrics such as total number of citations, h-index, and co-authored impact.
This international recognition reinforces CIIMAR’s role as a centre of scientific excellence and one of the main hubs for marine and environmental research in Portugal and Europe.
