More than 25 CIIMAR projects funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology

CIIMAR has seen more than half of its projects approved in FCT’s latest call for IC&DT projects.

The approval rate for the projects submitted by CIIMAR to FCT’s latest IC&DT call was 51%, resulting in 26 approved projects with a total value of €4.87 million. Many of them received 85% funding. This funding was awarded on the basis of the scientific and innovative merit of the project, the quality of the team, the feasibility of the work plan and the potential for developing skills.

The projects now selected will boost research in all of CIIMAR’s areas of activity: from marine biotechnology to aquaculture, ecosystem resources and biodiversity.

The principal investigators responsible for these projects are Agostinho Antunes, Alexandre Campos, Ana Paula Mucha, Ana Rocha, Carlos Quinones, Diogo Martins, Fátima Carvalho, Isabel Costa, Isabel Iglesias, Joana Almeida, Laura Guimarães, Márcia Saraiva, Mariana Reis, Marina Casimiro, Marina Dolbeth, Mário Araújo, Marisa Freitas, Martina Ilarri, Miguel Semedo, Paula Enes, Paulo Oliveira, Pedro Duarte, Rita Azeredo, Sandra Ramos, Vânia Freitas e Veronica Nogueira.

FCT’s most recent call for IC&DT projects, launched in March, approved a total of 630 projects, with a total investment of 74.8 million euros. Funding was given to Scientific Research and Technological Development Projects (IC&DT), with a duration of up to 36 months and maximum support of 250 thousand euros per project, and Exploratory Projects (PeX), with a duration of up to 18 months and funding of up to 50 thousand euros.
