The online lecture “Eyes on the Ocean: monitoring cetaceans in Portuguese waters” will address the importance of monitoring marine mammals, such as whales and dolphins, in Portuguese waters. The presentation will focus on species conservation and understanding their distribution, behavior, and migration patterns. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about marine wildlife and the work of those dedicated to protecting cetaceans.
Raul Valente is a PhD researcher at CIIMAR whose research focuses mainly on the ecology and evolution of cetaceans. Within these two topics, he has a strong interest in the use of monitoring tools for cetacean conservation and in the study of molecular and environmental factors that have influenced the unique characteristics found in these iconic species.
